Party Afternoon

A post title and card message chosen as a befitting tribute to me today; for my birthday.

I love making these flowers.  Punch out a scalloped circle from suitable papier and then agitate it with a bone scorer until it yields and tears apart into a twin set.  Ruffle or scrunch up the scallop and then join all pieces back together with a split pin.  Very satisfying.

Delightful Doilies

It's mostly about the background papier on this card.  A shimmering array of flowers alternating with watermarks of a wallpapier-inspired design.

Background papiers aside, you've got to love a doily, just the name itself evokes images of Grandma, high tea and life in the slow lane.

Box of Sunshine

Pinterest is positively overflowing with generous people who are willing to share their clever ideas.  If you follow the yellow brick trail here, it will take you to the originator of this p-inspiring notion.

A group of us created this Box of Sunshine for a colleague who is going through a really tough time at the moment.  True to her nature she is being really positive and is focussing on getting well.  It's all about attitude.

This is as much fun to make as it is to give.  You should have a go sometime if the opportunity presents itself; I have also prepared one of these in red as a birthday present.  Trying to find as many items in a particular colour, yellow or red or whatever colour is your theme, is like a treasure hunt for grown-ups.  It brings out the child in you.

Accompanying this gift were some craft magazines, dvd's and a novel.  As they weren't in yellow, we wrapped them in striped yellow and white papier - the magazines were rolled and wrapped in yellow tissue papier, making them look like giant bon bons.

Later (after all the photographs were taken) we added a yellow feather boa, a pot of yellow flowers and a yellow neck pillow.  Hope she's comfortable.

Cherries on top

Presenting another card using the Emboss Resist technique.

Pity I can't remember what I actually did???  Never mind, it looks good on the blog just the same.

I hope that one day I can add a post script to my blog, giving details in minutiae of what went on here.

Post It Notations

Declaration.  I am old enough to remember life before i-thingees, emailing, faxes and even photocopiers but not televisions and telephones.  You get it, I'm from Generation X, the unknown generation.  So many indispensible gadgets and gizmos are available these days that I can't possibly imagine going without most of them.  Today's focus is the banal Post-It Note.  Seemingly fairly innocuous, but invaluable to the "office girl" living inside of me.

Two large Post-It Notes were placed on either side of this coloured strip.  The space between them was inked in with sponges; flowers and foilage were then stamped over the top.

Two butterflies were punched out, glued to each other and then stuck onto the card.  A whimsical bit of pearlish bling was added.

A tag was finally created.  The layer hiding (unsuccessfully) beneath has been pierced with a pointed papier piercing tool.

Altogether a satisfyingly simple card to make with very eye-pleasing results.
